As part of our work on developing an eventual replacement for the newzealand.govt.nz website, the Digital Engagement team has written ‘thin content’ for the Govt.nz beta website, which can be viewed at beta.govt.nz. The thin content focuses on creating user journeys and links users out to other agency websites. The source for the thin content has been existing agency websites.

The next phase for our content development is working with agencies to fact-check this thin content. The Digital Engagement team has been outlining the best way to manage the fact checking phase, with a focus on minimising the burden on agencies. To inform this work about the process, we have tapped into the business.govt.nz expertise and templates developed over the last year. The team is also analysing how much content each agency owns, what information hubs involve multiple agencies and where there are known gaps in content, to look at the most efficient way of progressing.

In the next couple of weeks, we’ll be going to agencies with a proposed approach and a timeframe, so you’ll know what to expect. We’ll also set up some orientation sessions so that we can talk about how we think this process will work and get feedback.

If you have any questions, you can reach us through info@digital.govt.nz.
