Training and clinics for identification management

Training and clinics help build capability in identification management practice, which includes understanding and applying the Identification Standards.

Training and clinics — who can attend

Anyone who works with identification management and is looking to improve their skillsets can attend identification training sessions and clinics.

You can be from either the public or private sector.

Identification training

General sessions

General training sessions for identification management are available through self-paced online learning and facilitated virtual sessions. These include:

  • Identification essentials
  • Entity information — Names and other attributes
  • Introduction to Identification Standards (facilitated only)
  • Biometrics 101 (facilitated only).

Advanced sessions

If you’ve completed all of the general sessions, you can sign up for the advanced training sessions. These take place in face-to-face workshops. Advanced training sessions include:

  • Identification risk assessment
  • Identification process design for implementers
  • Authenticators and authentication.

Identification clinics

Attend supportive and informal clinics in a group setting. Bring your questions and challenges, general or specific, about identification management and prevention of identity theft.

Identification clinics are run by the Identification Consultant, Department of Internal Affairs (DIA).

You can ask about:

  • concepts in the training modules
  • identification risk assessments
  • what good identification processes look like
  • creating credentials
  • facilitating mechanisms
  • how to implement the Identification Standards
  • what it means to be compliant with the Identification Standards.
