Common Process Model

The all-of-government (AoG) Common Process Model is a cloud-based set of standard business processes available to all government agencies.

Service description

The AoG Common Process Model team provides access to, support, governance and maintenance of business processes for:

  • Finance
  • Human Resources (HR) Management
  • Payroll — being developed
  • Enterprise Asset Management
  • Information Technology (IT) Service Management
  • Procurement
  • Work Health and Safety.

General support

The AoG Common Process Model team provides:

  • email support response within 2 business days — Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm
  • onboarding
  • user guides
  • offboarding.

Support — Finance, HR Management and Payroll

The AoG Common Process Model team provides:

  • detailed training and advice
  • one-on-one support
  • quality assurance.

Support — other processes

For other processes in the AoG Common Process Model, the team provides:

  • high-level training and advice
  • support by phone, in addition to email.

Maintenance

For all processes in the AoG Common Process Model, the team provides:

  • read-only access and minor enhancements
  • reference groups
  • monitoring and reporting
  • a common master back-office library or Golden Client approach — for agencies to share and reuse collateral.

Delivery

The AoG Common Process Model team works within the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA).

DIA has subscribed to use Software AG’s ARIS platform to host the AoG Common Process Model.

Benefits

The AoG Common Process Model benefits investment initiatives, government agencies and New Zealand taxpayers by:

  • increasing specialised capacity and capability to support agencies’ needs for finance, HR and payroll process modelling
  • using a learning and development framework to support continuous learning
  • aligning processes with a standard process model — good practice across the NZ government
  • creating time and cost-saving opportunities for agencies to reuse shared collateral.

Roadmap

Minor enhancements to improve the AoG Common Process Model will be made. These ideas will be generated by users, reference groups and all levels of governance.

Adopting the service

Public service agencies can register for access to the AoG Common Process Model by emailing EnterpriseSupport@dia.govt.nz.

Agencies using the service

Check the Public Service Commission’s list of NZ government organisations — if your agency is on it, then you can register for access to the AoG Common Process Model.
