A new Digital Accessibility Standard (DAS) will replace the Web Accessibility Standard in early . We’re changing the standard to make sure that accessibility is considered for all digital technology — something the current standard does not do.

Your feedback matters

The DAS will matter most to these groups of people:

  • disabled people
  • people working in government, including staff and decision-makers
  • companies that provide information and services to government.

What happens with the consultation

You can share your feedback by:

  • completing the survey online, or
  • emailing answers to the consultation questions to web.standards@gdda.govt.nz, or
  • replying in New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) using NZSL.Direct.

You can send your feedback in NZSL using NZSL.Direct. It will be confidentially and professionally translated and included in the consultation feedback. This service is free to use for this consultation.

After the consultation

We’ll review and analyse all responses after the consultation closes. This will help shape the final version of the DAS.

We’ll also talk with the people most affected by the DAS. This will help us understand what they need and how we can support them better.

In early we’ll publish the DAS, a summary of the feedback, and a document explaining the decisions made.
